Sue - Homeowner
We bought our house new in 1972. We are retired and preparing our house to sell and knew an update was in order. We recently had a carpenter install a new bathroom cabinet and counter top that cost us $1,800 but on a limited budget, we could not replace the kitchen counter top. It was in good condition but was outdated. After talking to a friend, we learned that resurfacing was an option at a substantial lesser price. Our carpenter gave us a quote of $4,500 to replace the kitchen counter top and Ace bid $250. We spoke to Bob and with his knowledge decided to take a chance on their acrylic coating. The results exceeded our expectations so we called Bob back to look at our shower that had discolored. He told us the condition was still good but we wanted it to be white again. We also needed the doors replaced so he gave us a new shower quickly and at a fraction of the cost we were expecting. It was a surprising inexpensive option to upgrade our house.

Our house had been on the market to sell for a couple months but when everyone saw the master bath it was a deal killer. The colors were green and gold on the cultured marble on his and her vanities, garden tub, and shower stall. Contractors gave us bids ranging from $17,500 to $30,000 to replace these items and wanted two months to do it. Our agent told us resurfacing was an option so we called in a couple companies to give us a bid. Prices were relatively competitive but Ace was able to explain the process so we felt more comfortable letting them do the job for $650 in one day. The neutral color we picked helped us quickly sell our house.

The hall tub over-flow was rusted out so we called several people and were told we had to replace the tub. Trying to save money, we tore off the tub walls and called a plumber to cap off the pipes for the tub and he told us about resurfacing. We called a few companies but Ace was the first to say they could do repairs. Bob came to the house the same day and gave us a price. He also asked me what my original plan was. I told him I needed to cut the existing tub in sections to remove it and he asked me how I was going to get the new one in. At that time, I realized I would have had to remove a wall to get the new one installed! The cost to repair, install a new drain and over-flow, and resurface was only $300. I could not imagine what the cost would have been if I replaced the tub knowing now a wall would have to be removed. Ace saved me an incredible expense and my tub looks new.

Our original vendor used for a few years started having quality problems. Their tubs were turning yellow and peeled. He would not warrant his work so we tried a new supplier. They did 2 tubs a both started peeling the first week. Our management company has an approved vendor list and Ace Resurfacing was on it due to another property. I called them to look at our problem and he was able to show us and explain what was done wrong by the other suppliers. It was a combination of improper preparation and using the wrong product. It was nice to see someone that could explain the process and actually show how to check quality. We gave Ace a chance to prove it. My maintenance manager looked at his work and commented that it was obvious the quality is superior. We reviewed the information he has on their product and we were surprised the material is produced specifically for resurfacing. We learned there is a product difference and are comfortable knowing the warranty is real and backed by the manufacturer.

We were unhappy with the supplier we were using because they continuously had to be called back to clean overspray, spray missing areas, or redo a bad job. Bob stopped by for Ace just after our current supplier gave us their increased prices. I spoke to the property manager and gave Ace a try. They were prompt, friendly, and did a quality job. We are happy we made the change.

Our resurfacing provider had peeling tubs and it was turning yellow. Ace Resurfacing was recommended to us. They came and explained what the problem was and explained how their product was different and better. We tried them and do not ever plan to use another vendor. We think their product is better and their prices are similar. We enjoy having them on our property and they frequently come out the same day when we have emergencies to help us with move ins. We recommend them as they are our best vendor.

My current business is resurfacing cabinets. We remove the existing doors and drawers then replace them with new parts. Cost for this service starts around $6,000 and includes applying a new coat of paint to the cabinet shell that remains in place and reused. Before this business I was a cabinet maker and for $25,000 we would tear out the old cabinets and replace them with new cabinets. Ace Resurfacing does not replace the doors and hardware but cost for their service is only 10% of my charge. I feel it is a good alternative for apartments but believe a home should have new doors, drawers and hardware installed. Ace can not change the shape and style (flat door to raised panel for example) of the cabinet and reuse the existing worn hardware.
Mike -Counter Top Manufacturer/Installer
We occasionally run in to an older home where the cabinets and counter top is built in with the house. We have to contract a carpenter to assist with these jobs but have found it beneficial, and much faster with less impact to the customer to call Ace to resurface instead.

My mother needed assistance to get in and out of the tub. We looked to replace the tub with a shower or walk in tub. The shower quote was over $6,000 and the walk in tub over $17,000. We paid $600 for Ace to modify our existing tub. We also were happy to hear that the piece cut out can be reinstalled later if we wanted. My mother can now bath without assistance.

My grandmother passed away and we have had her house up for sale for over a year. The feedback was the house is outdated. Bids to replace everything was not in our budget. The kitchen counter, two bath counters, tub and tile shower all needed to be updated to restore the finish and change the color. Ace was able to do all of the work in one day. We contacted our agent to tell them of the changes, they came in to see it, made a couple calls and one of the people that previously looked at the house came back to see. We received an offer on the property and it was all due to the updates. The resurfacing exceeded our expectations and was very affordable.
Note from Bob - Ace Resurfacing
There are pros and cons associated with choosing to resurface instead of replacing. The most significant pro is cost savings. We can take a solid color Formica counter top and make it look like a marble top for example. Cost to install a new marble surface is approximately $4,000 and our price to apply a marble looking coating is $400. The con to resurfacing is longevity. A granite top will last forever but a resurfaced top will last at least 5 years (the warranty period) and expected to last 15 or more years depending upon how well it is taken care of. Many want to redecorate before this time is up so another coating could be applied again at a fraction of the cost of replacing.
HOME BUYERS AND SELLERS
When an older home is for sale, it frequently has an outdated color or the surface is worn. Ace can take any tub and make it look new. Ace can also take that outdated colored counter top and change it to something appealing. If either has damage, it can be repaired. As a home seller, resurfacing is a viable cost effective option to show a house in good, ready to move in condition where it would not compromise the selling price. As a home buyer, a bad color or worn surface is not a reason to remove a property from the consideration list. It can be an opportunity to procure a great property at a reduced rate knowing there is an inexpensive solution.
