The chemical manufacturer of the exclusive product we use specializes in chemicals specifically designed and tested for resurfacing. They continually test their product against the competition and as shown in the graph, their performance is superior.
Products are continuously being developed throughout the resurfacing process to work together and provide the best bond and robust finish available. As technologies advance, Ace reviews new products to determine if there is an advantage in application in respect to both quality and cost. Ace's goal is to minimize cost while providing the highest quality possible.
ASTM is the American Society of Testing and Material's. It is currently known as ASTM International and used for global technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services.
ASTM's paint and related coating standards are instrumental in specifying and evaluating the physical and chemical properties of various paints and coatings that are applied to certain bulk materials to improve their surface properties. Guides are also provided for the proper methods of applying these. These paint and related coating standards help paint manufacturers and end-users in the appropriate testing and application procedures for the coating of their concern. When a product conforms to an ASTM standard, it was produced and applied in an appropriate manner to perform as intended.
For the Acrylic Urethane used by Ace Resurfacing, this product was designed and produced to conform to ASTM guidelines in respect to the bonding to substrates (i.e., tubs, counter tops...) and performance of the top coat for the intended purpose.
Like other counter top materials (laminate and solid surfaces), the maximum temperature should not exceed 180 degrees fahrenheit. Color dyes are the limiting factor. They degrade and yellow or brown above this limit.
